A DRY LAWN DUE TO DROUGHT: WHAT CAN YOU DO?
02/09/2022
HOW THE COURTS AT WIMBLEDON ARE GROOMED
15/09/2022Let’s face it: the summer heat and sunshine are good for the heart, but as we all know, they won’t last the whole year.
So it’s important to prevent rather than cure when it comes to the many complications that winter brings.
What do we do if it snows? What should we do? Here’s a short guide!
- What to do when there’s a sudden snowfall
A snowfall is an atmospheric event that may cause much inconvenience, so it’s important for everyone to handle it as well as possible. There are a number of rules of conduct to follow, for example, concerning your car.
Use snow tyres or snow chains on your car, thereby ensuring that you have the right equipment for your car. Make sure you have a supply of salt to use on private roads and on pedestrian paths.
For public buildings, in addition to salt it would be ideal to have a shovel and a bucket available to clear any snow.
The most important thing, however, to avoid being caught unprepared, is to check the weather forecast.
- Prevent ice by using salt
Snow inevitably brings ice with it, which is highly dangerous when found on roads. It’s therefore important to know how to deal with it.
As we all know, salt is the best ally (along with sand) in preventing a build-up of ice. This product is used as it lowers the freezing point of water, thus removing both ice and snow from roads.
In order to ensure that it’s used in the most appropriate way, you need to know that any excessive use may lead to much controversy in environmental terms. So, more eco- friendly alternatives are being sought such as the use of sugar beet.
- A snow plough and a salt spreader for a combined action
The first step in getting rid of ice is to clear roads in the best possible way, and what better way to do this than with a snow plough?
After clearing the roads, the next step is to spread salt. Several pieces of equipment are suitable for this job but the most efficient is a salt spreader, equipped with a crusher roller and a spreader roller for better spreading of salt and sand.
